It's nice that milestones are made, BUT "WE" have a long road ahead. We're not out of the woods... yet ! Attending meetings is one thing but people have to QUASH the developers and their reasons for continuing forward with their projects. Open space should take higher priority over money!

Karen, it was so nice to put a face to your name at the meeting the other night. Being rather new to Lafayette, I am grateful to have come across your sub-stack. As a resident of Old Town and a small business owner, the thoroughness of your reports is incredibly helpful.

I’m heartened as well. It was a long rough ride fighting against HB24-1313, and I was often frustrated that the city seemed so uninterested in it. Sometimes I would post about it trying to get people riled up, and it would end up with maybe a dozen comments, many supporting building high rises in Lafayette so we could have cheaper housing. Yeah, cheap is what they would be, the kind of cheap that becomes very, very expensive. Meanwhile the guy who posts about wanting to re-home his puppy gets hundreds of comments. I wanted to tear my hair out! But, it was really great to see how many showed up to speak at the meeting or just to show their support, and there were a whole lot more than that who wrote and called. I’m starting to feel optimistic that we could generate enough resistance to have an impact and maybe stop this thing altogether. Thank you to everyone for getting involved. And if you haven’t called and/or written yet, please do BOTH today! Our sweet little city needs all of us to protect her from the powerful forces that want to use her up for their own selfish purposes. Keep it coming everyone! There’s still a long way to go!

Thanks Donna! I can raise awareness but it's the actions of each individual that can make things happen. 😊

Well said Karen! It's been reassuring to see the Lafayette community come out so strong and make their voices heard on these important issues. Each voice makes a difference. City Council is listening!

It's been wonderful to see.

To anyone reading this who doesn't know Ron, he goes to more city meetings than I do! And speaks at more of them too. He is very tuned in!
