I am so proud of this community right now. So much has been going on over the last few weeks, it’s been kinda crazy. With two large developments suddenly appearing, coupled with the numbers coming out of city staff’s analysis of the effect of HB 24-1313, it’s been overwhelming. I’ve been scrambling not only to keep up with it all, but to keep you informed too. But you have answered the call to participate and not to get all soppy, but wow, Lafayette, you are showing up and saying what you want for your community in a way I haven’t seen in a long time. (note to self, get more tissues)
Standing room only at meetings, flooding the council with messages, you are totally bringing it.
There was an extra police officer at the last council meeting just in case one of you got carried away. Just kidding about the reason, but the city was prepared for the possibility that there might be a need for extra crowd control. So often there are a handful of people at city-related meetings, it was amazing to see so many of you show up to speak on these topics.
I attended all the meetings and I know many of you are waiting to hear what happened at the ones you missed. I was awake at 4 this morning while my brain was trying to figure out how to write about it. I am somewhere around 6 city meetings this week alone. My vacuum cleaner keeps clearing its throat when I walk by and I toss it a lozenge and keep going. Sorry pal I’ve got stuff to do! And there is that pesky work thing as well.
I try and walk the line between overflowing your inbox and disappearing between the email about your non existent package being delayed by UPS and one asking if you saw their email from last week (no, no I did not!), and not getting information to you because I waited too long and now something else is happening. That’s why I sent out the last two newsletters, deadlines to act (Catch-all Corner) and if I don’t tell you now it will get away from me (elections).
Never fear I will update you on all this as soon as I can. For now though, I wanted to let you know that if you are reading my reports and acting on my occasional shoutout, I am seeing your response and it matters. The numbers of voices raised matters. If you haven’t raised yours yet, come on and join in. There’s a lot of love and appreciation for our town and you have been showing that these last couple of weeks. As someone who pays attention I want you to know it’s noticable. And it’s awesome. Stay tuned I’ll be back with updates soon.
Now where’s that annoying vacuum?
Want to offer more support? Awesome!
Well said Karen! It's been reassuring to see the Lafayette community come out so strong and make their voices heard on these important issues. Each voice makes a difference. City Council is listening!
Thank you, thank you for all you do!!
