The lowdown - Lafayette Florist and Chase Bank buildings
The latest news!
Many of you have been wondering what’s happening with the Lafayette Florist building. Me too. I heard it was sold and reached out to our Economic Development Director and Executive Director of the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority Brigid Keating to see if she had any information she could share. Since I recently reported on the Chase Bank move to Erie I asked her about that location too. Here’s that email exchange.
Good Morning Director Keating,
I have learned that Lafayette Florist has been sold to Tebo Properties, a well-known name in Boulder County. Since this building is somewhat of a centerpiece to downtown and has housed Lafayette Florist for generations I am sure residents will be interested in what happens next. I have a few questions I hope you can help me answer.
1) Do you know what is planned for the site?
2) Have you indicated that the city would be interested in working with the developer to preserve the building and possibly offer incentives to the right tenant?
3) Is there any other information you can share with me?
While I am on the topic of downtown, do you have any information on what Chase Bank intends to do with the building and parking lot at Geneseo and Public once the Lafayette branch moves to Erie? The same questions about Lafayette Florist would apply to this building too.
Thanks for any information you can offer that I can share with the community on my Substack site and Nextdoor.
Karen
Hi Karen,
I hope you are well and enjoying your summer. Tebo Properties is currently looking for a tenant to fill the Lafayette Florist space. The City Administrator and I have been in regular discussions with them about their projects in Lafayette, and we've expressed our interest in a partnership to secure the right tenant and use for this location.
Regarding Chase Bank, I have been in discussions with their real estate team about the two sites that they plan to sell later this year. A couple of businesses have already expressed interest in the Chase Bank site. I’m excited to see a new business there that is more compatible with the retail and restaurant uses in the area.
Thanks!

Great information 👍 Thank you Karen .
Thanks Karen.
However, I feel that Chase bank was very compatible for that location. Years and years I have been going to that bank. It is sad to think that all the local people who live around there will now have to drive to ERIE for our bank services. I will be very curious to see what will go in Chase.. and of course, Lafayette Florist building.
