OMG Karen, this is so amazing! I didn’t know any of this except that Red Wagon leases and farms that land as part of a community farm project. Now I know it’s called a CSA and how it works. I also had no idea that Doug and Dana Conarroe saved and restored those historic jewels. It’s all just a wonderful story that I have to say choked me up a little. We all owe a debt of gratitude to you (and Toby back in the day) for pulling the threads of our community into a deeply rich tapestry that we can continue to build our heritage upon. I love this city! I hope with all my heart that it’s true character survives this push by the state to capture it and capitalize on it. There is so much worth remembering and preserving. We are very luck to live our forever lives in such an extraordinary little wonderland.
I'm so glad you found this interesting! You can still buy produce from Red Wagon without being part of the CSA but joining is a way to give them more dedicated support.
Doug and Dana have done so much for Lafayette. I mentioned in a past post that there are a lot of people here doing great work that we don't hear about. They are certainly in that category!
Thanks for your kind words about my small contribution. I love this place too!
