Thanks Karen, I was just trying to lookup annexation issues @ 287 & Arapahoe after last weeks Council meeting. You gave me the answer I was looking for.

I'm glad I could help, Steve! I'm working on one more post about the revenue-sharing part of all this.

Thanks for writing this up! 🙂

One question, wouldn't N. 119th and highway 7 refer to the intersection at Arapaho and not Baseline? It would make way more sense for Erie to be involved there.

Highway 7 runs east on Arapahoe, turns south at 287, and east again at Baseline. So there is no intersection of Highway 7 and Arapahoe at 119th, the intersection is at Baseline and 119th. Erie has a substantial housing development on the north side of Baseline, east of 119th called Parkdale which is currently under construction. Going further east the area to the north of Highway 7 is Erie, Vista Ridge, the King Soopers area etc.

To the west of 119th/120th is Lafayette. To the east of 119/120th (it changes going south) is partly in Lafayette, partly in Boulder County until you get to the Anthem development which is Broomfield.

Does that make sense? This is why there is so much attention being paid to the boundaries and who can annex what. The two municipalities are very close together.

Doh, I was thinking of 111th! That makes sense, thanks for clarifying!

Oh, that makes sense! 111th and Arapahoe is where the Thompson Thrift project was planned. :-D

Thanks for pulling all this history in one place. I've followed it over the years (I live at Arapahoe and 95th) with great interest. You've shared some things I didn't know and others I'd forgotten! I'm most curious about the potential move of the pillars to Atlas Valley!

It's a long history! It's taken me days to write these parts. :-) I spent all Sunday writing the history of the Lafayette and Erie relationship. I had to shift through all kinds of documents and pull everything together. I'm glad I did it but will also be glad when it's done! Haha Working on the revenue sharing today.

We shall see if the pillars really do move to the Atlas Valley. It's been such an up-and-down ride.

Any chance you've got a map with street names visible? I can't quite tell which corner I'm looking at. Thanks!

That's all I have. Hopefully, street names shouldn't be needed beyond 119th, Arapahoe, and Baseline. Where are you stuck?
