Thanks Karen! If I read your post correct, the water fees have increased over 40% in 2 years!!

Why aren't developers of the mega projects paying higher fees to support the infrastructure necessary due to the increased usage because of their projects?

Hi Nancy, our rates went up 21% in 2024 and will go up an additional 21% in 2025.

In 2021 I wrote on Nextdoor about developers getting a sweetheart deal with water and new staff members discovering it and taking action to stop it. In 2023 I posted a slightly edited version on Substack so it would be available. https://apoliticalhobbyistinlafayetteco.substack.com/p/you-were-subsidizing-developers-water

In February 2024 I wrote about the increase in fees for the developers to follow the action taken in 2021 https://apoliticalhobbyistinlafayetteco.substack.com/p/three-water-related-updates

Once again, exemplary work. Thank you!

Do you know if the City has reported on whether or not they are meeting their goals with the fee increases for water to help pay down the debts?

Thank you Lura! I have not heard anything about meeting goals. I 'll see if I can find out anything.
