What's going on around town
Photo by JACQUELINE BRANDWAYN on Unsplash
It’s a hectic week for this hobbyist and it’s not over yet, with city related meetings out the ying yang. I’ll eventually find time to report on some of the happenings you might be wondering about, so stay tuned. For now here are some coming soon that I thought I should tell you about.
But first I want to give a shout-out. Last night, after leaving the Range at Lafayette meeting at Confluence, I had the opportunity to do something rare for me. Eat at a restaurant!
If you haven’t been to Udon Kaisha you might want to put it on your “things to do in Lafayette I haven’t done yet” list. It’s at 191 W South Boulder Rd. It’s a sweet little place and the food is not only delish but the prices are great. Now I don’t go out much and I am, how shall I say this, frugal? So when I had vegetarian spring rolls, green tea and a cucumber, avocado and asparagus hand roll and the bill was under $20 I was extra pleased. Not only was there sushi on the plate but a darling little light. I saw the server go to another table with a giant wooden boat.
This place is awesome and it might give me a reason to leave the house beyond attending city meetings and stopping by the dollar and twenty five cents store!

Share your input on Lafayette's Vision Zero Action Plan by March 14
The Lafayette Vision Zero Action Plan strives to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by integrating Vision Zero strategies into the City’s Multimodal Transportation Plan (MMTP). Launched in 2024, the project identified high-crash locations through community feedback and drafted safety solutions. This survey will help prioritize those solutions, assess future crash risks, and guide safety improvements.
The City encourages residents to complete this transportation survey, which is open until March 14, to share input on community safety priorities and raise awareness of recommended safety strategies.

Want to offer more support? Awesome!
Thanks for the tip about Udon Kaisha! That’s right near my house and I’ve never been. About a year ago I gave up restaurant food as part of an effort to lose a bunch of weight I gained during Covid, but after having lost all of that weight (and then some!), I recently added a weekly cheat day, so I’ve been eating at a few restaurants on Fridays, and I’ve been very disappointed and frustrated. Most every meal I’ve eaten at a restaurant now has ranged from disappointing to inedible, and the price tag has been jaw dropping! On my birthday I paid $6 for a cupcake at Button Rock Bakery that I took one bite of and tossed in the garbage (bone dry and the frosting tasted like lard) and I paid nearly $50 that same night for an Italian meal (flavorless lasagna and soggy Caesar salad with an inedible ahi tuna appetizer) from Bucatini Trattoria, a new Italian restaurant that I was really excited about trying, but was not impressed by. I’m really hoping to find some local places to enjoy my Friday treat when I can enjoy a good meal at a reasonable price. I’ll be trying this one tomorrow! Much appreciated!
Hi Karen, thanks for keeping us informed. The link for the survey is working but the mmtp link is broken.
