I often hear about city happenings or pick up a bit of information here and there and I think hmmm that might be of interest to some folks, but it’s not enough for a post so I leave it floating around in my brain (a dark and scary place to be!). I decided to start popping these snippets into a draft report titled Catch-all Corner and send it out to you every so often.

2023 Hutchison Heritage Award Program
Every other year since 2001 the Historic Preservation Board presents Hutchison Heritage Awards. These awards are for residents worthy of recognition for maintaining, adapting, or rehabilitating homes over 50 years old and for keeping the construction in scope and scale with the surroundings.
The award is named for James Hutchison, who was sometimes referred to as Mr. Lafayette. For years he and his wife Beth were the keepers of Lafayette history over at the Miner’s Museum. He wrote a book about Lafayette called Lafayette, Colorado, treeless plain to thriving city: Centennial History, 1889-1989. You might know his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Gerry Morrell.
Here are the recipients of the 2023 awards.
