“The City of Lafayette is developing its first Climate Action Plan (CAP) to provide a comprehensive and pragmatic update to our existing Sustainability Plan. The CAP will outline key actions the City will take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare our community for the impacts of climate change. The CAP also identifies climate action strategies that improve equity, increase community resilience, and protect ecosystems in Lafayette. Old Town business update
When Little Herbal Apothecary moves into the renovated building that was home to the Cannon Mine Coffee Company, Silver Creek Jewelry and Gallery will move into their vacated buildings at 100 E. Cleveland.
I checked in with Brigid Keating our economic development director and executive director of the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority (LURA) to get an update on some downtown businesses. Here’s what I learned.
Local Goods - Director Keating has been chatting with the owner about some locations/options. She said Local Goods is the type of small business the city would love to see stay in Old Town.
Lafayette Florist - the building is under contract but with who can’t be shared yet.
The now closed Casian Seafood restaurant at 211 N. Public Rd. Director Keating said a number of people have been looking at this site. She has reached out to the property manager with information regarding grants and small business support from LURA.
Thank you for such a quick response!
Glad there is a plan for that site.
Thank you.
