Breaking News! A message from Erie Mayor Moore
His thoughts about open space at Baseline and 119th

In my report yesterday, titled “You spoke up for Open Space at 119th and Baseline!” I told you about residents attending the annexation eligibility hearing at the city council meeting to speak in favor of buying this property for open space.
I gave you a link to the petition, Preserve Lafayette created, called Preserve Lafayette’s Eastern Gateway as Open Space which begins with these words: “We, the residents of Lafayette, Erie, and Boulder County, ask our leaders to work as partners to preserve the 78 acres at the northwest and southwest corners of 119th and Baseline as open space.”
I told you that Vicky Uhland presented the petition and signatures to the City Council during that meeting, and on May 22nd, we sent it to the County Commissioners. We now have 1004 signatures!
This morning, I received the following message from Erie Mayor Andrew Moore.
"As the mayor of Erie, it is essential to consider long-term implications in the decisions we make. Having an open space area between Erie and Lafayette is vital to provide a meaningful buffer between our municipalities and ensure that those who come after us can enjoy the open areas for centuries to come. I'll do what I can to lead Erie as a partner in this effort and look to the Boulder County Commissioners to take the lead in finding a way forward that is mutually beneficial for us all."
Mayor Andrew Moore, Town of Erie
Thanks to Mayor Moore for his support!
